A very poignant moment took place while the team were fitting the lower tail to the fuselage at the museum. A lady was asking about the Whirlwind and if it was built at Yeovil. Confirming it was, the conversation moved on to the lady's father who was employed at Westlands as a toolmaker and had worked on the Whirlwinds. The lady was invited to view inside the cockpit, while the various instruments and equipment were explained. A bitter sweet moment for the lady, while remembering her father and discussing, and at times learning of, the part he played in defending this country.

It gives the team great delight to meet people who have a direct connection to Westland and the Whirlwind, and this chance meeting serves as a great reminder of the " not so" ordinary people who also played a significant role in those desperate times.
